Completed in 2016 : a 90 sqm, glulam and CLT, two bedroomed house for a site on Lochbroom. The house has a mono-pitched roof sloping down to an entirely glazed NE facing elevation with lovely views across Loch Broom to Beinn Dearg. It features a total of four glazed doors making intimate connection with exterior decking to both gable ends of the house. The floor is mostly exposed concrete on a suspended CLT slab supported on low, poured concrete walls.
Its minimal heat demand is met by an air source heat pump coupled to underfloor heating in the living space and a wood burning stove. Maximizing daylighting and solar gain on this steeply sloping hill side facing north east and deeply shaded to the south by trees and a hill is achieved by a canted glazed box that extends the greater length of the rear south west facing elevation.
